Physiotherapy
As a primary caregiver, a physiotherapist can assess, diagnose, and treat your injury through a combination of methods that may include: manual therapy; manipulation; acupuncture; modalities such as ultrasound, IFC; and/or exercise prescription. Education plays an important role in physiotherapy. The goal of physiotherapy is to return you to your optimal function and strength, while educating you about your injury. This allows you to independently maintain a healthy body without the constant supervision of a therapist.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. It is a clinically-oriented health option that achieves undeniable results in the relief of an array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes.
Our Massage Therapists are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario are actively involved in continued learning and have additional training in Sports, Deep Tissue, Lymphatic and Relaxation Massage. They work independently or in conjunction with our team of Practitioners to ensure the best outcome.
Personal Training
Our approach to care and exercise is designed to provide the greatest benefit for each patient. To improve performance, we assess, identify and correct movement deficiencies. Resistance training, flexibility training and cardiovascular exercise are important for improving your health, fitness and physical performance. Functional outcome measures are implemented to improve your experience when transitioning from post-injury care, back to regular activity, combining maintenance exercises to prevent further re-injury. Our Medical Exercise Specialist can help you reach your goals safely and effectively.
Concussion Therapy - Physiotherapy
A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury caused by disruption in neurological functioning following a significant impact to the head or elsewhere on the body. The impact causes a biomechanical imbalance within the brain cells, resulting in decreased blood flow and temporary energy deficits within the brain. Symptoms may include loss of consciousness, headache, neck pain, nausea or vomiting, dizziness or balance problems. Our Concussion program is an advanced approach to concussion rehabilitation, guiding you safely back to full participation in activities such as daily living, family life or athletic activity. Concussion services include:
• Baseline Concussion Testing
• Concussion Diagnosis & Treatment
• Coach/Trainer Concussion Education
• Return to School & Sport
• Concussion Policy/Protocol Development
Pelvic Health
This area of physiotherapy involves the management of conditions related to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. These muscles lie at the base of your pelvis, between the pubic bone and tailbone. Pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to incontinence, difficulties emptying the bladder and bowel, pelvic organ prolapse, chronic pelvic pain, sexual pain and pregnancy-related pain. A Physiotherapist trained to evaluate the pelvic floor can provide assessment and treatment of the following conditions: stress or urge incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, pregnancy-related pain (pre and post-partum), interstitial cystitis, dyspareunia, vaginismus and coccydynia. Pelvic floor physiotherapy can help to retain the muscles and nerves of the pelvic floor to improve its strength and function.
